December 22, 2019, Luke 1:38-56 – Post 3 – ISSL Reflections

IX.
I have asked several times this week that we pay attention to Mary’s song, and I ask that again of us today.

What draws you?

Here is her song once again,

“My soul magnifies the Lord,
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has looked with favor on the lowliness of his servant.
Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed;
for the Mighty One has done great things for me,
and holy is his name.
His mercy is for those who fear him
from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with his arm;
he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts.
He has brought down the powerful from their thrones,
and lifted up the lowly;
he has filled the hungry with good things,
and sent the rich away empty.
He has helped his servant Israel,
in remembrance of his mercy,
according to the promise he made to our ancestors,
to Abraham and to his descendants forever.”

X.
Do you hear her words applying only to herself? Do you hear a hope she offers us?

I needed her words this week to awaken in me a level of hope that I had been lacking. I have begun to sense a hope that I much needed.

How is you hope working for you?

Please let me end this week’s reflections by going back to the words of the Psalmist I shared the other day –

Remember your word to your servant,
in which you have made me hope.
This is my comfort in my distress,
that your promise gives me life.
(Psalm 119:49-50)
